Internet Marketing or Traditional Marketing? Both

It is difficult to imagine that only a few years ago many companies had not embraced Internet marketing. According to eMarketer, in 2011, nearly a quarter of all marketing dollars spent in the U.S. will be used for Internet media and Internet marketing campaigns. This isn’t just a trend or a fad. Internet marketing is here and will continue to grow.

Never before in history have companies been able to market personally to individuals on a mass scale that is cost effective. This means that companies no longer need to advertise to fifty-thousand people just to hit five-thousand of their target market. Internet marketing has changed the very essence of marketing. Facebook for example has very detailed demographic information of all of the 600 million plus users. If you’re a Celtic punk band from Canada and you are doing a tour in Belgium, you can very effectively advertise on Facebook to your exact target demographic in Belgium.

Google along with other search engines collect massive amounts of information from users. Google processes billions of search queries a day. One might say this is the aggregated thought stream of the human race. Never in history has a company had access to such valuable information if data mined correctly. Google has changed the playing field and will continue to help the internet and media evolve. Google AdWords is just the first step of a long journey. Get involved early and stay ahead of the game.
